Why Old Patterns Repeat
Understanding the patterns we inherited is the first step to changing them.
Patterns are learned
Many of the ways we react, especially under stress, were learned when we were young. They are not character flaws; they are familiar paths your brain knows well.
Awareness creates choice
You can't change a pattern you can't see. Start by noticing: when do you react in a way you don't like? What happened just before?
The pause
Between what happens and how you respond, there is a moment. Growing that pause, even by one breath, is where change begins.
- Notice the trigger.
- Breathe once.
- Choose your next step.
